Why Gay Pride Celebrations 1. Gay pride festivals are an opportunity to counter the dangerous, hateful representations of gay people that continue to be perpetuated. 2. Gay pride festivals provide chance for us to study and celebrate our story. The achievements of gay people throughout history can become an inspiration to the children of our future. 3. Gay pride festivals are an opportunity for Unity. This type of project can bring people and groups together for a greater good and make the community better for everyone. The partnership of so many varied individuals and groups and personalities is evidence of what could be in our society. 4. BECAUSE every community needs a major civic festival event that brings the many facets of the population together in a worthwhile project. 5. Because they are fun! |
