Why Gay Pride Celebrations

1.  Gay pride festivals are an opportunity to counter the dangerous, hateful representations of gay people that continue to be perpetuated.

2.  Gay pride festivals provide chance for us to study and celebrate our story.   The achievements of gay people throughout history can become an inspiration to the children of our future.

3.  Gay pride festivals are an opportunity for Unity.  This type of bigger-than-life-sized project can bring people and groups together for a greater good and make the community better for everyone.  The partnership of so many varied individuals and groups and personalities is evidence of what could be in our society.

4.  BECAUSE every community needs a major civic festival event that brings the many facets of the population together in a worthwhile project.

5.  Because they are fun!

DONATE TO PRIDE

The Pride festival is funded solely by grants, sponsorship (vendor space) and fund raising events.

The festival utilizes volunteers to keep costs down, but we still need your support to keep the event going.

If you haven't got time to volunteer then one way you can help is by donating some money to us online.

What is the money used for?

Think about what happens on and around the Pride weekend.

Now try to picture all of the things that have to come into place to make the event the success that it has been and will be:

There's the stage, the acts, the equipment hire, the advertising, your safety at the festival and traffic safety for the parade

the clean up after everyone else has gone from the festival, insurance, food for the picnic

technical support (both lighting and sound), fire safety, printing

the toilets.... the list goes on and on!

An mid-sized event like our festival (Youngstown is not Columbus) still doesn't come cheap!

Nothing is wasted, the donations go to this event.

Just click on the donate button on this page.
